This is a press release from the Town regarding the election results. Shaun Henry won.
Shaun Henry was elected to
Kindersley Town Council yesterday as voters braved the cold weather to cast
their ballots in the 2014 Kindersley Municipal By-Election. Returning Officer
Bernie Morton made the official public announcement at 9:00 am this morning at
the Kindersley Administration Office.
Henry fills the vacant seat left by
Sheldon Goodheart who resigned from Council in November 2012.
Voter numbers were not high for the
February 5 By-Election, with just 78 total votes cast. Henry won by 32 votes
against competing candidate Kevin Martin. Unofficial numbers were as
follows:
Shaun Henry - 55
Votes
Kevin Martin - 23
Votes
The new Councillor-elect will be
sworn in at 5:00 pm Monday, February 10, 2014 as the first item on Council’s
regular meeting agenda that evening.
A total of 78 votes were recorded at
the end of Election Day, February 5; 17 of which were cast during the Advance
Poll held on January 30. Some voters took advantage of the mail-in ballots,
which were made available this election to those unable to attend either the
Election Poll or Advance Poll.
Councillor-elect Henry will fulfill
the remainder of his chair’s four-year term set when the current Council was
elected in 2012. The next municipal election will be held in 2016.
All results will be posted on the
Town of Kindersley website (www.kindersley.ca/election).
