Parking Restrictions Adjustment

On August 12th Council heard from Joe Vamvakakis, the owner of the Coliseum Mediterranean Grill, about the effect of the new parking restrictions on 11th Ave's south side. Mr. Vamvakakis was very sensitive to the need for the parking restrictions as well as the need for travellers and truckers to have easy access to our businesses along 11th Ave.

Mr. Vamvakakis asked Council whether the restriction could be adjusted to accommodate passenger vehicle parking between the exit and entrance of the Esso Gas Bar. It was a good discussion including considering restricting parking on the north side for 150 metres from the corner of Main St. Working together with Mr. Vamvakakis, Council passed a resolution Monday night allowing for passenger vehicle parking between the exit and entrance of the Esso Gas Bar.

There is little doubt that the poor design of the intersection and location of Main St., 11th Ave and 12th Ave with Highway 7 has created significant problems for both residents of Kindersley and travelers. Council is awaiting the final report of a transportation study and its findings regarding how best to address this design flaw.
