One of the outcomes of our governance retreat with George Cuff is some governance changes. One that will be noticed by our user groups is that Councillors are no longer going to chair committees. As an example Councillor McTaggart is no longer chair of the Cemetery Committee and Councillor Biberdorf is no longer chair of the Rec Advisory Committee.
A Councillor's responsibility is to act as a liaison between committees and Council rather than as a champion for the committee. The Chair of the Committee is expected to champion the cause of the committee to the community and Council.
A Councillor's responsibility is to the community as a whole rather than one specific group represented by a user group.
