"Fat Cat Splash Pad" Grand Opening

Today was another good day: the grand opening of Synergy Credit Union's "Fat Cat Splash Pad." Due to the cool wind only one child, in a rain jacket, ventured into the splash area.

My opening remarks and pictures are below.
  • Good afternoon and welcome
  • It is my pleasure to be here with you to celebrate the official grand opening of our new spray park

  • And on behalf of the Town, Council, and our residents, I would like to thank and acknowledge our donor and community partner Synergy Credit Union
  • The spray park was completed last September and opened for use just in time for Goose Festival

  • And on that day, more than 70 children came to splash through the water; it was truly a heart-warming sight to see them laughing and having fun in the late summer sun

  • In its all too brief history I think we can all appreciate what a fantastic outdoor facility the spray park is and how beneficial it is to our children and Kindersley

  • Whenever laughter and cries of joy ring out in our parks it is a good day
  • Joining the Town in this endeavor, and once again showing tremendous support for Kindersley, is Synergy Credit Union
    Synergy also purchased benches from KCS for the park. May 14, 2015.

  • Marketing Assistant Daryl Amundrud was unable to be in attendance today, but was largely responsible for the design and creation of the signs you see on the benches and the one were are about to unveil today.

  • On behalf of Council and the Town of Kindersley, I want to extend a special thank you to Synergy for your support and significant financial contribution of $100,000 toward the spray pad, in addition to the four benches you see around the perimeter and other components that will be added at a later date.

  • This park will be enjoyed for years to come by families and children of all ages – thank you very much – I am looking forward to hearing more laughter and joyful noise coming from this space

  • I also want to say a special thank you to our Town staff, particularly Joe and his Parks team who have worked hard to bring this project together and to prepare and maintain the site
  • And thanks also to Dynamic Construction Ltd. for their great work in constructing the spray park last fall.
  • We also have brand new public washroom facilities in the water tower to accommodate users of the spray pad and the park
  • Thank you to everyone who has come today to celebrate this occasion with us.
  • I hope this spray park will be a place of great memories and sounds of children playing for you and your families for years to come
