Michael and Lynn Scott celebrating their Golden Anniversary at St. Joseph's Church Kindersley. April 18, 2015 |
Last night, April 18, there was a celebration of Michael and Lynn's 50th Anniversary, their Golden Anniversary. In attendance were friends, family, neighbours, old neighbours from a life time ago, and community people.
Michael and Lynn are an inspiration. Through 50 years they have had their ups and downs with significant differences, Michael is Catholic and Lynn is Lutheran, but they are still in love and adjusting to their season in life. I hope Annette and I make it to 50.
Last night I was able to present them, on behalf of the Town, a certificate celebrating 50 years. If you know a couple, happy or otherwise, celebrating their Golden Anniversary, please let the Town know so we can celebrate it. Marriage is one of the foundations of community and 50 years means a lot to the family and community.
Recently I came across an interesting stat, I can't find the source as I type, but the researchers found that the greatest source of inequality in the west is family unit. Families units headed by one person fell behind family units headed by two people; it was a significant difference.
