interpipeline openhouse

 interpipeline hosted their open house last week. There was some good information provided, good food, and lots of people. Most of the construction is scheduled to be completed this year. Here is some of the information I learned:

  • the volumes they are transporting are increasing;
  • one pipeline will reduce truck traffic by 55 units per day and another pipeline will reduce truck traffic by about 36;
    • I am sure the RMs will like that because it will mean less gravel and less maintenance,
    • I'm not aware how many units will be pulled off of the roads (how many operators does it take to load and make the run and return to start over)
  • the cost of producing and delivering oil will be reduced, which is good for a commodity with unstable prices in a competitive market
  • SK has 26,796 kms of pipeline (2012)
  • pipelines pay property tax totalling $80 to RMs in SK (2012)
  • about $110 million of goods and services have been purchased (2012)
  • local communities received about $1.2 million in donations in 2012

If you would like more information try interpipeline and about pipelines.
