  • Every day is election day in Canada
    • Susan Dellacourt (I have read her and she helped me better understand how political parties are acting)
  • Permanent campaign is changing things, mobilize citizens for issues
    • Government is overtly political
  • NDP now has largest pool; CPC has third smallest (Liberals are second)
  • Left/right doesn't exist anymore; voters aren't ideological
    • 20% of Wildrose in the last election voted NDP this time
  • Provide data to support importance to party (for lobbying - how will our request help the party)
  • How do municipal issues affect people's lives?

  • Municipal Priorities
    • $340 million on municipal priorities is what each party supports selects in surveys (this translates to 34%)
    • 78% want money transferred for infrastructure rather than reduced taxes.

  • 75% environmental rights should be in the Charter

    • Not with feds
    • Focus on municipal level
    • Where is the power? People across nation and by area
    • Gibson BC includes Natural Capital in budget considerations
  • Leverage power across country
Their 'Blue Dot Tour' is to gain support to put the environment into the constitution. They claim 75% national support.
