CBC ITeam Investigation of the Kindersley Landfill Fire

This morning CBC Radio began their broadcast of their investigation into the state of landfills around the province. You can find the written report here.

I find working the with  the media interesting. In this case I spent 45 minutes with Geoff, Bernie spent about as much time with him as well, and he pulls out a couple of statements that neatly fill his narrative.
  • Good news: we are not on the list of the 30 worst dumps in the province.
  • Bad news: we had the fire.
  • Good news: the fire out.
  • Bad news: our costs have skyrocketed.
  • Good news: a new sense of urgency for a new landfill.
  • Bad news: our local construction contractors are feeling the financial hit.
It is with combination of curiosity and dread that I am awaiting this evening's news on TV.

Congratulations to Taylor Rocca, the sports reporter at the Clarion, whose photo of the fire was used by CBC.
