City of Regina – RM of Sherwood: Building a New Relationship Partnership, Collaboration, Solutions

The notes are taken from a presentation delivered by a Councillor from the City of Regina and the Councillor from the RM of Sherwood. The municipalities made news in the past year for the rancour between them resulting in the provincial government drafting legislation 'encouraging' municipalities to work together. ·         Mad up of Admin staff (City Manager, RM Administrator, RM and City and Planning Director or delegates

·         Regional Development Committee

·         Deliberate on regional matters referred or considered by Admin and Technical Committee

·         Comprised of 2 Councillors of RM and City

·         Developed a joint planning area

·         Complimentary approach

·         Collaborative Planning Area – develop a joint concept plan

·         Spend Time on building trust

·         Province provided resources to get back on track

·         Looking for a productive business relationship

·         Work out of common purpose rather than need
