Communities in Bloom

Congratulations to Joe and the Public Works Department for their hard work this past summer ensuring that Kindersley looked great! I would also like to thank all of the volunteers who worked to ensure Kindersley looks beautiful. The town looked great! I would also like to extend congratulations to the Cemetery Committee for the hard work they have done this past year in evolving the cemetery into a 'sanctuary' space that is a pleasant experience. I know the Committee has plans to continuously improve our experience at the cemetery and I am looking forward to seeing how things progress.

It is great to see two Saskatchewan towns on the list.

The Town of Kindersley received a 4 Bloom rating and a special mention for Kindersley Columbarium (Phase 2) during the 2013 National Symposium and Awards Ceremonies at Canada's Capital Region, Ottawa-Gatineau on October 25th and 26th. The community participated in the 2,001 - 5,000 population category.

Following their evaluation, volunteer judges Lucy Chang and Sylvie Belley wrote: “Kindersley, a newly energized community of around 5000, is located along Highway 7 in the west central region of Saskatchewan. Founded in 1909, the town has not neglected its heritage as it surges forward under an economic revival. One of its heritages, the Kindersley Cemetery, received an additional feature in July 2013 – a state of the art columbarium (Phase 2) that joins an existing columbarium (Phase 1). Begun in 2001, the Kindersley Columbarium’s site is now beautifully landscaped and the foundation is built to facilitate the installation of the columbarium in 3 phases.  Each installed phase adds to the green and peaceful setting of the Cemetery that is meant to be a welcoming destination for friends and families to stop, visit and linger over warm memories of their dearly departed ones”.
