Relay for Life 2014

Tonight was an evening celebrating cancer survival. A number of teams plus about 25 survivors are walking through the night to raise money for the battle against cancer in the Relay for Life.
The Survivors' Lap. June 14, 2014
A little more than a quarter of the money raised goes to help cancer patients and survivors have a good quality of life, about a quarter is for research and the rest is for various needs.
The Teams First Lap. June 14, 2014
If I recall correctly more than 90% of the funds raised in Relay for Life stay in Saskatchewan. To learn more check the Canadian Cancer Society website or the Relay for Life site.

The longest survivor is in their 41st year and there are others with less than 15 months. Not present tonight was a young guy, I think less than 5 but I'm not sure, who is in his second or third year and is back in the hospital.

I would like to take a moment to thank the Relay for Life team for the hard work that goes into organizing such an important event.

On behalf of the Town I brought greeting and a variation of my remarks are below. (I write them out, know what I want to say but don't read them.)
