Fire Update

My bad, I have misplaced my notes from our last scrum. The scrum is the meeting in which updates are shared and future action steps are shared so everyone is on the same page. Because I have misplaced my notes I will not be sharing specifics because I don't want to share to the wrong information resulting in confusion or misunderstanding.

Everyone seems happy with the progress made today. I am. This picture of the smoke at 9:30 is where we started this morning.

The photo I took this afternoon at 4:00 is reflective of the progress made.

The fire was engaged at 7:38 this morning and as the morning proceeded the fire fighters adjusted their tactics to be more effective. The suppression started on the west side, moved to the south, and tomorrow they will be working on the north side. Everyone is cautiously optimistic.

As a result of the progress provincial command and tactical personal have started returning home. Hot shots, with all due respect, who have left include the Fire Commissioner, a tactical official, the landfill specialist, and a couple of others. Though this expertise has left, the province is bringing in more people to have fresh boots on the ground.

The "Shelter in Place" protocol is still in place. Basically it is if you smell it avoid it.

Our approach to the event made a significant change this afternoon. During our afternoon scrum we went from overcoming and reacting to the challenge of the fire and transitioning to a posture of being proactive and subduing the fire.

Let me reiterate that we are confident and cautiously optimistic; however, we are realistic and know that there is still opportunities for the fire to reassert itself.

If you have any questions please check the Town's website.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
