This Evening's Radio Spot

Hi Everyone:

This is Kindersley's Mayor, John Enns-Wind.

I am pleased to advise that we have made significant progress today with the landfill fire and as a result we are lifting the "Shelter in Place" recommendation for residents within 1km of the landfill. The smoke exposure risk is no longer a concern as crews successfully carried out their fire suppression and bury tactics.

While our crews remain onsite and the work will continue for many days, we have the upper hand, and the threat to the community is over. We are keeping the local state of emergency to allow us to have access to the necessary provincial resources to carry out required fire suppression work.

I would like to thank the many dozens who have aided in the emergency, including volunteers and local employers of our firefighters.

Our rapid response, quick action, and carefully planned strategy has made me proud to be Kindersley's Mayor and proud of our team.
